Rajesh Payal Rai (राजेश पायल राई), born on 30 September 1975 in Khotang, Nepal, is a celebrated Nepali playback singer, modern pop artist, and live performer. Widely known by his nickname “Rai is King,” he is one of the most versatile and successful singers in the history of Nepali music.

Rai began his musical journey in the early 1990s and quickly rose to prominence with his powerful yet soulful voice. Over the years, he has sung thousands of songs across genres—modern, pop, folk, and film soundtracks—making him one of the most recorded Nepali singers of all time.
